Nail It This Winter with Healthy Nails

January 25, 2017

Yes, it’s cold outside, and yes, it’s dark outside, too. It’s midwinter after all, and you’re probably just waiting it out for that first flush of spring air. But there’s no need to let the season get the best of you. Now’s the perfect time to punch up your style with some great nail color from a salon manicure.

Winter hands and feet need TLC, and a salon is the best place to get it. You’ll not only get well-shaped, colorful nails, you’ll also get properly moisturized cuticles and hydrated skin. Cold air zaps moisture wherever it can find it, and central heating is just as drying in its own right. The intensive moisturizing treatments your salon has for hands and feet will be just the ticket. Plus, you’ll get the chance to brighten up your day with a splash of nail color, too.

This year is all about high contrast in nail color – the bigger the impact, the better. Think about lemon yellow, acid green, robin’s egg blue, and bright white for starters. Classic red even goes brighter than ever this year in a stoplight shade. If that all seems to be just a bit too much, why not consider the jellybean colors like bright lavender, raspberry, or spring leaf. Any of these would be a great foil for your dark midwinter fashions.

Prefer something more brooding? While the black polishes have run their course, earth tones are on the rise. Neutrals, browns and grays are great transitional colors and will complement most any fashion choice you make. To amp it up a bit, opt for a neutral with a bit of opalescence, or choose a topcoat with a high shine. Or, go the opposite direction with a matte finish. It’s all good.
